Departure - Blog 02.02

Our journey started punctually at 12:30 at Dresden International Airport. After we had checked in our luggage, we went through security and into the waiting area. Josephine must have looked suspicious somehow, because her luggage was then checked for explosives. We still had some time to wait, so we watched the same old scenes on the TVs hanging from the ceiling. Dfb-Pokal, St. Pauli against Düsseldorf and Hertha against Kaiserslautern. We were finally allowed to board our plane at around 13:55. We had a motivated pilot who got us to Frankfurt on time despite the delay.

It was now about 3pm and we fumbled our way through the maze of Frankfurt airport until we reached our gate. We came to another security check, where the usual suspects were checked for explosives. However, we still had more than 4 hours to kill, which we passed by listening to music, making the final preparations for our stay, just hanging out on our cell phones or, like Manuel, putting together a soccer team and playing soccer in the airport.

We took off at around 8pm. We settled into our seats, started watching various movies and had our evening meal. After a more or less restful night, we (at least some of us) ate our breakfast, which consisted of an indefinable pastry, which according to the label contained tomatoes, egg and maybe something else, and a lemon muffin.

When we got off the plane at Kilimanjaro International Airport at 8 a.m., the heat was not as intense as expected. This was probably because some clouds were blocking the sun.
